Maarsbergen Horse Trials grows to seven classes and organises the 2023 National Championship Eventing Juniors and Young Riders.
From 29 June to 1 July 2023, no fewer than seven classes will be held during the international eventing competitions at Maarsbergen Horse Trials: a short 1* to 4* competition, a long 2* & 3* competition and the final of the 4- and 5-year-old competition. Extra special is that the Dutch Eventing Championships for Juniors and Young Riders will also be held during these classes. This makes the Maarsbergen estate once again a wonderful setting for an eventing championship. A renewed course incorporates a number of unique spots on the estate, guaranteeing a week of sensational equestrian sports.
Over the past 20 years, Maarsbergen Horse Trials has grown into a professional event. From the beginning, the motivation to contribute to the development of the eventing sport in the Netherlands and to the growth of individual combinations has been central to this. Experiencing the sporting challenge and the ambiance of a top international sporting event stimulates development and growth in the participating combinations. The allocation of the NK Eventing Juniors and Young Riders therefore fits well with the vision of Maarsbergen Horse Trials.
Event director Maurits van der Goes responds enthusiastically: 'We are honoured to host yet another championship. After the 2019 European Championship Eventing Young Riders & Juniors, we have continued to develop our competition from a sporting, organisational and business perspective and our event is growing. We are proud that this is recognised by the KNHS and the NK Eventing Youth has been assigned to our competition for the next two years. Next year, together with our volunteers, partners and sponsors, we will build towards a successful NK!'

Every year during the race days, the cosy straw village full of beautiful lifestyle items is open. There are also catered catering facilities here with many sweet, savoury and healthy delicacies. Furthermore, a Classic Car rally starts and finishes at the event site on Saturday, so car enthusiasts are also in the right place during the event.
Renewal
As at the European Championships, the cross will be designed by course designer Eric Winter and plans for the future are now in place. This year, the organisers are revamping and expanding the Maarsbergen Horse Trials course. During winter and spring, the water obstacle will be modified. In the forest, a number of routes will be expanded, creating opportunities for new combinations of obstacles. Volunteers are building dozens of new obstacles and refurbishing old ones to create 7 challenging courses.
An exact time schedule and programme details will follow. All information and plans from Maarsbergen Horse Trials can be followed via the website, Facebook and Instagram.
