From August 27 to 29, 2027, the eventing champions of the future will be welcomed to Maarsbergen during the FEI Eventing European Championship for Young Riders and Juniors. European talents from around 20 countries will compete for the championship titles in the beautiful setting of Maarsbergen Estate.

Event Director Maurits van der Goes responds enthusiastically to the announcement: “We are incredibly proud that the FEI Eventing European Championship is returning to Maarsbergen in 2027. Over the past years, Maarsbergen Horse Trials has grown into a leading eventing competition in Europe. From an organizational perspective, we are fully equipped to host another major championship. Our team of over 150 professional volunteers is already looking forward to making the event a great success for riders, horses, guests, and visitors alike.”

Cross Country

What makes the championship in Maarsbergen truly unique is the cross-country course that runs through the park of the historic Maarsbergen Estate. Cross builder Aert van der Goes explains: “Together with Dominic Moore (Jump 1) and Eric Winter (cross-country course designer), we started working on a vision for our course two years ago. Our vision is based on three core principles: First and foremost, the safety and welfare of the horses always come first. We build fences that educate both horses and riders for the future. Secondly, we design a theme for each part of the estate, with the obstacles fitting that theme. For example, we have areas like ‘bridges & boats’ and a ‘Dutch market’. Finally, we make full use of the landscape: the horses will pass through the canal around Maarsbergen Castle and ride in the surrounding forests. It is a tremendous honour to build the European Championship cross-country course in 2027.”

A perfect day out

Visitors can look forward to an enjoyable day out during the event. The park of the historic Maarsbergen Estate, usually closed to the public, provides the surroundings for beautiful equestrian sport, stylish hospitality, and delightful culinary experiences. The ambiance and warm hospitality in the unique surroundings of Maarsbergen Castle are highly praised by past visitors to the event. Thousands of spectators can enjoy a wonderful day out, featuring top-level sport, beautiful nature, a charming setting, attractive shops, refined catering, and plenty of space to walk around, have a picnic, or simply relax with drinks.
